For the first time in the 20-year history of the gated 225-square-kilometre Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR), visitors can enjoy a self-drive safari in our specially prepared Toyota Hilux Adventure Overlanding vehicles through the unique area under the expert guidance of Sand Sherpa.
Upon arrival at Sherpa Camp, participants can explore the sands and enjoy a nature walk around the site. We have fully equipped bathroom facilities on-site and offer refreshments along the way and self-prepared bbq when you arrive.

Dubai’s one and only self-piloted 4×4 driving adventure in the nature reserve! Learn to drive off-road, spot wildlife and enjoy our VIP campsite deep into the desert. We guide and instruct participants over hand-held radios and spot indigenous wildlife, including gazelle, oryx, monitor lizards and countless birds, and discover fox dens and natural phenomena. Adults and kids alike will learn all about the desert, its history and its inhabitants during this unique safari led by conservationists and off-road experts.
14:00 – 15:00: Pick-up from the hotel (time will be confirmed directly with participants)
15:30: Arrival in DDCR followed by briefing and instruction on reserve/off-road driving
16:00 – 17:00: Off-road drive to camp
17:00 – 19:00: Time at leisure and self-prepared bbq dinner (fresh ingredients will be available in your camping fridge)
19:00: Departure from camp
Guests are provided with a camping trailer on arrival equipped with a Lotus Grill and fire pits, sofa and dining setting, with your selection of the best grilled meats and/or vegetables and salad. Contact us for the menu
