Madinat Jumeirah is an Arabian mini-city in Dubai, comprising five-star hotels, ornate souks and beachfront hotspots.
A destination within a destination, you’ll find several grand hotels, including Jumeirah Al Qasr, Jumeirah Mina A’Salam and Jumeirah Al Naseem, alongside a cluster of traditional summerhouses at Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf and seven grand homes at Jumeirah Malakiya Villas.
There is an entire river system, five kilometres in length, complete with its own fleet of traditional abra boats. You can take a tour around the whole property on one of these in-house abras and stop by along the way.

Zabeel Palace is the home of Sheikh Rashid, UAE’s former prime minister. It is constructed in the Zabeel area, which was formerly just bare land covered with sand. Today, it is surrounded by all the glitzy buildings that make up the skyline of Dubai. Another Zabeel Palace has also cropped up in the vicinity, but it is the old palace that is full of charms. This palace was constructed sometime in the 1960s and was used as a residence till the 90s. The Arabic word ‘Zabeel’ stands for ‘Thanks’.
The Dubai Frame is an architectural landmark in Zabeel Park, Dubai. It holds the record for the largest frame in the world. Whilst described by The Guardian newspaper as “the biggest picture frame on the planet, ”, it is controversial as the architect describes it as the “biggest stolen building of all time.

Sheikh Zayed Road (Sheikh Zayed Road) is the main arterial road in the city, and most of the traffic coming and going comes from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. This highway is part of the UAE’s longest E11 highway, extending from Al-Silah in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to the Emirate of Al-Emirate, roughly parallel to the coastline of the Persian Gulf along the UAE. In all Emirates, E11 has a different name. The roads in Dubai are named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, then President of the UAE. Sheikh Zayed Road is home to most of the city’s skyscrapers and is a major commercial hub. I recommend driving on this 7 to 8 lane road at night to feel the best in high-rise buildings, restaurants, shopping malls, Dubai Red Metro, etc. As mentioned earlier, it is very crowded during the festival.
The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and a global icon. Truly a feat of engineering, the building represents the conceptual heart and soul of the city of Dubai.
At 828m tall, this magnificent structure is located next to The Dubai Mall and has drawn visitors from all over the world since opening in 2010. The unmatched Burj Khalifa view can be taken in from not one but two observations decks – the two-storey At the Top on the 124th and 125th floors, as well as one of the world’s highest observation decks (555m) on the 148th floor.
Dubai Water Canal is a 3.2km long waterway that extends from the Creek in Old Dubai through Business Bay, before finding its way back to the Arabian Gulf.
The man-made canal, which opened in 2016, meanders through the centre of the city, transforming the face of Downtown Dubai and turning it into a waterfront destination. Nearby, you will find the magnificent V Hotel and Hilton Dubai as well as the captivating aquatic show, La Perle by Dragone.
